The Saddleback College Community Chorale is the largest mixed voice ensemble on campus. The Chorale is made up of both music students as well as members of the surrounding Saddleback community. It is made up of singers with a wide variety of backgrounds; from highly experienced choral singers to musicians new to choral work who have a willingness to make the commitment to the choir. It is truly a community choir in the sense that there is such a wide range of ages in the choir. Past members have ranged in age from 18 to 80 and beyond! While the repertoire is eclectic in nature, it leans toward the standard classic choral repertoire. Recent works include:
-
Faure Requiem -
Castlenuovo-Tedesco Romancero Gitano -
Brahms Ziguenerlieder -
Schumann Ziguenerleben -
Cherubini Requiem -
Haydn Lord Nelson Mass -
Handel Dixit Dominus -
Bernstein Chichester Psalms -
Vaughan Williams In Windsor Forest -
Ginastera Psalm 150 -
Shearing Songs and Sonnets
The Chorale has also performed concerts such as “A Tribute to Gershwin, Porter, and Berlin,” “Great Choruses from the Stage,” and a “Mother’s Day Celebration” that included favorite pieces of our singer’s moms! The Chorale and the Saddleback Symphony Orchestra also performs its annual Holiday concert “A Feast of Lights” to sold-out crowds during the first weekend of every December.
Rehearsals are every Tuesday evening from 8:00 until 10:00 in the Fine Arts building, Room 101 (FA 101). Auditions for the Community Chorale are held prior to the start of every semester. For more information about upcoming auditions, please click on the Audition link!
